“Some twenty years ago, I purposefully began a journey to understand the world into which I was born. I began by reading the works of C.S. Lewis, Iain McGilchrist, A.W. Tozer, Jordan Peterson, Thomas Merton, and others. I learned to enjoy the creative work of journaling and the art of photography…and engaging in fellowship with brilliant minds exploring the culture we inhabit, allowing the necessary shifts to understand what is happening to the human race. I decided to post the content I had been writing in my journals to a blog site, to establish a digital record of my journey. I generally will say that I am writing for myself, adding to my worldview as I go, but if what I am sharing is helpful for someone to make sense of their life, we are all the better for it.”

An Ethical and Psychological Worldview, a Biographical Post

I have memories of my childhood walking home from Catholic school, always needing to stay alert for the Protestant bullies who would wait to attack us on our way home in the afternoons. Being the oldest in the family, I was the apparent target. As a good kid, I didn’t understand the behavior directed at me. Was it because I looked odd in my school uniform, or was it due to being a Catholic kid in the minority facing racist behavior? I didn’t know why they wanted to be so cruel to me!

An Unbearable Truth

The “past determines your present action and behavior” (Miller). We can continue to repress our childhood memories, ignoring that they exist, and be driven by repressed memories and feelings that determine nearly everything we do or fail to do.
